Job Description

The Childcare Assistant supports early childhood educators in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. Responsibilities include assisting with daily routines, supervising children during activities, preparing learning materials, and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards. The role also involves supporting children’s emotional, social, and developmental growth through engagement in age-appropriate activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead educators in planning and delivering educational programs.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety.
  • Prepare and organize learning materials and resources.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through guided play.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the childcare environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about their child’s progress and daily activities.
  • Follow organizational policies and comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in child development.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Basic first aid knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to different age groups and individual needs.
Qualifications:
  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in childcare or early education is preferred but not always required.
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent mandatory clearance.
