Job Description

A Tax Consultant provides expert advice on taxation matters to clients or the organization. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws, identifying tax-saving opportunities, and advising on business structuring and tax planning strategies. The role involves staying updated with changes in tax legislation, liaising with regulatory authorities, and assisting clients or management in making informed financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, businesses, and corporations.
  • Advise clients on tax planning, deductions, exemptions, and credits.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations.
  • Research and interpret tax legislation to provide accurate guidance.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and handle audits or inquiries.
  • Identify potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide support in financial reporting and business structuring decisions.
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws and regulations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients/projects.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks) and MS Office.
Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA, CA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in tax advisory or accounting firms is advantageous.
