Job Description

The Audit Manager oversees audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring compliance with Australian auditing standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. The role involves managing client relationships, supervising audit teams, and providing actionable insights to improve clients’ financial reporting and internal controls.

Audit Managers act as a bridge between senior management and staff, driving efficiency, accuracy, and value in audit engagements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple audit engagements for clients across various industries.
  • Review financial statements and audit work papers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor junior audit staff and associate auditors.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Coordinate audit planning, risk assessment, and reporting schedules.
  • Ensure audits comply with Australian Accounting Standards (AAS) and auditing regulations.
  • Provide recommendations for improving internal controls and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare audit reports and present findings to clients and senior management.
  • Support business development and client acquisition initiatives.
Required Skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AAS) and auditing principles.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in audit software (e.g., CaseWare, Xero, MYOB) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA, CA, or equivalent professional certification required.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in auditing, with 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience with external audits for medium to large clients preferred.
