Job Description

The Cashier is responsible for handling all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. The role involves processing payments, handling returns and exchanges, and assisting customers with inquiries. A Cashier plays a crucial role in creating a positive customer experience and ensuring smooth operations at the point of sale.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Transactions:

  • Process cash, credit, and debit card payments efficiently and accurately.
  • Handle refunds, exchanges, and returns following company policies.
  • Issue receipts, vouchers, or change as required.

Customer Service:

  • Greet customers warmly and provide assistance as needed.
  • Address customer questions, complaints, or concerns in a polite and professional manner.
  • Promote store products, offers, and loyalty programs.

Cash Handling & Security:

  • Maintain cash drawer accuracy and balance at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Report any discrepancies or suspicious activity to management.
  • Follow proper procedures for cash handling and secure storage.

Store Operations:

  • Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and free of clutter.
  • Assist with stocking, inventory checks, and store maintenance as required.
  • Follow all company policies, health, and safety standards.
Required Skills:
  • Strong numerical and cash handling skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer literacy for point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required).
  • Previous cashier or retail experience is an advantage.
