Job Description

MJ Mechanical is seeking an experienced and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our automotive workshop team in Tasmania. The successful candidate will inspect, diagnose, service and repair a wide range of vehicles while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect vehicles and identify mechanical or electrical faults.
Perform scheduled, logbook, major and minor servicing.
Repair and replace engines, brakes, batteries and other components.
Test vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment.
Carry out engine tune-ups and routine maintenance.
Repair steering, suspension, transmission and braking systems.
Replace worn or damaged vehicle parts.
Conduct road tests after completing repairs.
Maintain accurate service and repair records.
Keep tools and workshop areas clean and organised.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
Explain identified faults and required repairs clearly.

Skills and Requirements

Relevant automotive mechanical qualification.
Previous experience working as a Motor Mechanic.
Strong vehicle diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Knowledge of petrol and diesel vehicle systems.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Good communication and time-management skills.
Valid driver’s licence.
Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
