Job Description

We, at RR Group Victoria Pty Ltd (ABN 94 688 370 621), trading as Pier 17 Bar & Grill are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Chef to lead kitchen operations and deliver exceptional culinary experiences. The successful candidate will oversee food preparation, menu execution, kitchen staff supervision, and quality control while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer satisfaction.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service delivery
  • Lead, train, and mentor chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff
  • Prepare and oversee the production of high-quality dishes
  • Develop and update menus in collaboration with management
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health standards
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Manage inventory, stock ordering, and supplier relationships
  • Control food costs and minimize wastage
  • Schedule kitchen staff and supervise performance
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and operated safely
  • Handle customer feedback related to food quality and service
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
Qualifications & experience:
  • Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management, or an equivalent culinary qualification is preferred.
  • a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a senior culinary position such as Senior Chef, Sous Chef, or Head Chef.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and HACCP principles.
  • Expertise in menu planning, food costing, inventory control, and supplier management. Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff, are essential.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management abilities.
  • Must be flexible working evenings, weekends.
  • A passion for culinary excellence and delivering outstanding guest experiences is highly valued.
