Job Description

Fork and Filter is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team in a full-time position. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality food, supporting kitchen operations and maintaining consistent food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan menus in consultation with management, considering seasonal availability, dietary requirements and customer preferences.
Estimate food and labour costs and order appropriate food supplies.
Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking and presentation.
Coordinate with managers, kitchen staff, waiting staff and other relevant team members regarding food preparation.
Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide kitchen staff on appropriate procedures and methods.
Prepare and cook food while maintaining quality, consistency and efficiency.
Explain and enforce hygiene, occupational health and food safety requirements.
Select, supervise and train kitchen staff where required.
Freeze, preserve and portion food in accordance with industry standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
Proven experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
